Debra Levy Eldercare Supports Local Arts Organization – Solas Nua

Before I became an Aging Life Care Manager, my first love was the theatre. I have been fortunate to have assisted several clients over the years who were also in the theatre, one client appearing onstage into his late 80’s! As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we continue to give back to the community we serve, and one of our chosen organizations is Solas Nua, the only organization in the country dedicated to bringing contemporary Irish arts (plays, movies, visual arts, writing) to the metro DC area. I am proud of my Irish heritage (my maternal great-grandparents emigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia and I still have cousins living in Ireland) to help to underwrite the upcoming production by Solas Nua of The Frederick Douglass Project, featuring world premiere plays by Deirdre Kinahan and Psalmayene 24, written in commemoration of Douglass’ 1845 journey to Ireland, May 10 – 25 at The Yard’s Marina. Presented on a pier in Navy Yard, this site-specific production will feature live music, dancing, and hip hop in an innovative blend of African American and Irish culture. Tickets and details are available at solasnua.org. Here’s a sneak peak into their rehearsal of this unique production: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJuePkh6xWA.
