Our Commitment to Diversity
Our founder, Debra Levy, was a social worker and active member of the National Association of Social Workers. Their ethical principles begin with naming their core values which include service, social justice and the dignity and worth of the person. Today our company is comprised of social workers, nurses, gerontologists, and other professionals and we all share these common core values. Recent events have shone a bright light on the ongoing injustices in our society and the tragic side of American history which enabled them. We at Aging Well Eldercare recognize and decry the devaluation of Black lives at the hands of the police and endeavor to show in both our actions and words that we believe that Black Lives Matter.
We stand in support of peaceful protest against police brutality and racial inequality.
We stand in support of criminal justice reform that seeks to fix a long-broken system.
We stand for the equal dignity of all people, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
Individually and as a company, we are working to better understand the insidious nature of bias, and to recommit ourselves to the core values of service, social justice and human dignity. Together we will strengthen our company through our efforts to be more diverse, more compassionate, more welcoming, more open to listening, deeper in our understanding and more committed to a world where there is justice for all.
In honor of Juneteeth (June 19th), the day which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, we encourage you to use this day as a day of reflection. Take the time to listen, learn and become educated on racism and social justice and what can be done to bring about equality and diversity where you live.
We thank you for your ongoing support, especially in these very challenging times, and welcome your thoughts as we all move forward together. We share Martin Luther King’s vision when he wrote, "I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”
