Social workers literally make up the fabric of our society. They are present in many settings: schools, communities, health care organizations, the government, and, of course, companies like ours. They counsel and assist our children, our older adults, our homeless, and those with disabilities. They influence and work to bring about change in our society in various ways including promoting equal rights, health care for all, and a safe environment. Our social workers here at DLEA provide support to older adults and individuals with disabilities so that they can enjoy the best quality of life possible.
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) theme for Social Work Month 2018 is: “Social Workers: Leaders. Advocates. Champions.” What they say in the first line of their proclamation is so true: “The Social Work Profession is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of others and meeting the basic needs of all people, especially the most vulnerable in our society.” Our social worker care managers are committed to the health and well-being of our clients and work as a team with our nurse and gerontologist care managers to make this happen.
Please join me in honoring our amazing social workers, Susan Blum, Teresa Boring, Amy Ullman, Amy Kandel and Loretta Vitale-Saks! Also, we proudly remember our founder, Debra Levy, an extraordinary social worker, for her passion and commitment to the social work profession and for making DLEA a leader in the field of Aging Life Care Management.
