Reflecting on 2015 and Welcoming a New Year

In this past year our team of 12 dedicated care managers traveled over 86,000 miles visiting our clients in their homes, assisted living communities or skilled nursing facilities, driving them to doctors’ appointments and advocating for them during hospital stays!
Some of the highlights from 2015 include:

  • Celebrating 27 years as an independently owned and operated care management company
  • Launch of our new website and this blog in April
  • Attending the Aging Life Care™ Association (ALCA) annual conference in Denver, Colorado in May
  • Appointment of Susan Blum as our Director of Care Management—Susan also celebrated 11 years with DLEA in October
  • Kim Picca, our Director of Nursing, celebrated her 12th anniversary with DLEA in March
  • Barbara Girolami joined our team of Debbie’s Angels as our concierge companion program celebrated its 2nd anniversary
  • Maria Perry took on leadership of our WellSenior™ program
  • Rich O’Brien expanded his role with the company and is now our Community Relations and Intake Specialist, in addition to his responsibilities as a Debbie’s Angel
  • Expanding our membership in ALCA to include every one of our care managers, making us the largest group of Aging Life Care Managers in our region!

As 2015 draws to a close, we bid a fond farewell to Cindy Kantor, who is retiring after 18 years working first as a nurse care manager, then as our intake specialist and most recently as our Human Resources and Community Relations Director. Cindy always made sure that we looked our best as a company and in our annual staff photos and we are grateful that she will continue to be available to help with special projects and the transition of her responsibilities to the other members of our growing administrative team.

In 2016 we are looking forward to:

  • Susy’s leadership of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association as its newly elected President, with over 250 members from Pennsylvania to Virginia
  • Attending the annual ALCA conference in New York in April—our first conference in the Big Apple
  • Continuing our monthly care coordination meetings where staff discuss client challenges and problem-solve together in order to meet our clients’ needs most effectively
  • Getting trained in the Music & Memory program so that we can create personalized playlists for our clients, especially those with dementia
  • Upgrading our client data base to maintain security and confidentiality while improving care manager access, especially while out making client visits
  • Continuing to provide the highest quality care management and concierge companion services to our clients and their families!

As always, we thank you for your support and look forward to a healthy and happy New Year!
