The Aging Life Care Association (ALCA), together with its Board of Directors, commissioned the first-ever peer-reviewed survey of clients and their family members to measure the impact of care management on users of our services. While we’ve consistently recognized that our efforts have had a significant impact, this survey provides valuable insights into the satisfaction levels of our care management clients and their perceptions of the quality and effectiveness of our work.

The research team at Virginia Tech’s Center for Gerontology successfully wrapped up their comprehensive three-year project this spring, unveiling very positive results. It underscores the vital role that Aging Life Care Managers® play in supporting clients and their families when they face challenges of aging and/or disability. Our specialized expertise, unwavering ethical standards, and compassionate guidance play a pivotal role in providing effective care management. As trained professionals, we are not just experts in the fields of aging, disability, and care coordination; we are dedicated advocates who provide invaluable support to families facing the challenges of complex health conditions.

Whether we are assisting with a challenging transition from the hospital to a skilled nursing community or coordinating an array of services for clients who wish to age in place, as Aging Life Care Managers, we embody compassion and understanding, serving not only as trusted partners in care, but as an essential resource that supports and empowers families. We combine clinical expertise with ethical standards and emotional understanding, so that we can be an essential ally in the management of challenges related to aging, illness, and end-of-life care. Our unique skill set enables us to provide effective guidance and support, helping the families we serve navigate the complexities of these life stages.

Further findings from the study are shown on the chart below: 93% of people reported that they felt that the value of care managers outweighed the cost, 97% felt care managers helped to mediate family dynamics, 91% found care managers responsive in a crisis, 96% noted strong knowledge of local resources and 82% said that services helped to reduce social isolation.

In May, We Proudly Celebrate:

"National Aging Life Care Month!"

May 2025

In May, Aging Well Eldercare (AWE) proudly joins the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA) in celebrating National Aging Life Care Month. Fourteen years ago, ALCA chose May to coincide with Older Americans Month, when older citizens are honored.  With a commitment to enhancing the lives of our older citizens and those with disabilities, May reminds us of the invaluable role of Aging Life Care Managers® in supporting these individuals and their families. As advocates for aging well, our team of care managers and Debbie's Angels embrace the opportunity to spotlight the importance of compassionate, person-centered care. AWE is dedicated to fostering independence, dignity, and quality of life, and we honor the journey of aging with respect and unwavering support.

To celebrate Aging Life Care Month, Fridays, between May 1-May 31, 2025, the association (ALCA) is offering four FREE "Ask an Aging Life Care Manager" small group conversations for family caregivers, solo-agers, or anyone looking for information on Aging Life Care services.

Each small group is limited to fifteen participants and will be led by an Aging Life Care Professional. Each participant is asked to register for only one of the forty-five minute small group sessions. These small groups are opportunities for people with questions about caring for an aging loved one, or concerns about solo-aging, to get clear, quick answers and learn how an ALCA member can assist in the aging journey. This will be an introduction to the services Aging Life Care Managers provide and how to find the right Professional to fit their needs.
