Thanks to Jennifer Sherwood for 10 Wonderful Years!

She started her journey with DLEA in January 2008. This is her DLEA story…

Jennifer SherwoodI first heard about DLEA from a close friend from nursing school, and we had also worked together early in our nursing careers. When she went to work at DLEA she told me about her work there and I was really intrigued.

I had been working as an independent care manager for 4 years when I explored joining DLEA. I thought to myself, this could be a really good fit for me! I came to DLEA because of the caliber of work they do – and their team approach was very appealing to me. Becoming a part of the team and still being able to do the care management that I loved was a perfect fit. I look forward to continuing to grow in my role as a full-time nurse care manager!

Knowing that I’m part of a group that helps clients remain safely in their homes is very important to me. I like that I can also help support their move into a safe and appropriate community, if that is what they choose. It’s an honor to be their voice and their advocate when they can’t speak for themselves, and to give them hope and let them know they are not alone on their life’s journey.

Replenishing is just as important to me as giving. I love spending time outdoors and enjoy downhill skiing, riding my bike and kayaking with my extended family and kids. Family time is very important to me — maybe going to a movie, a museum or an ice hockey game together. I also love going with friends to wine or beer tastings, or taking dance lessons together. I have taken salsa, foxtrot and ballroom dancing lessons — I love to try new things! To help keep in balance, I attend church, meditate, and do yoga.
